Welcome

Welcome to the inaugural post of the Parkhurst Law Firm weblog!

As you can see on my About page, I am a New York City Employment Lawyer representing workers.  I have been practicing law for 18 years.  16 1/2 of them have been representing workers and labor unions in employment related matters.

From 1998-2013 I worked at some of New York City’s most prestigious labor and employment law firms on the worker’s side, and have had the privilege of collaborating with some of the top attorneys in the field.  In January 2014, I decided to “take the plunge” and start my own practice.

What will you see on this blog?  First let me say what you will not see.  This will not be an advertisement for my services, or tooting my own horn, although if a case I’m handling enters the public eye you may see a link to it here.  For the most part, I will be focusing on two subjects.

First, I have always liked to kibbitz about Labor and Employment Law, and will highlight current issues in the news.  Sometimes it may just be a link to an ongoing case, at other times it may be some more extended commentary.

Second, as a solo practitioner I have become very interested in the use of legal technology and practice aides.  In a short time I have found that with creative use of technology, a solo practitioner or small law firm can handle tasks that, in the past, lawyers needed significantly more manpower to accomplish.  I do not intend for this to become a product review site.  I am more interested in “disruptive” technologies that allow both lawyers and non-lawyers access to the law.

Welcome aboard!
